Bears Softball Coed League Rules
COED: This is a coed softball league. All teams must have four girls in the field at all times. In the interest of preventing forfeits, a team may play with three girls in the field they cannot occupy the catcher position. Also, no more than six males can play in the field at a time.
SLOWPITCH: This is a slowpitch league. All incoming pitches must have an arc and cannot go above 12-feet in height.
1-1 COUNT: Each batter begins with a 1-1 count. Any pitch that hits the plate or mat is considered a strike. There are no restrictions on foul balls.
BATS: Guys MUST use wooden bats. Girls can use any bat they choose, no limitations.
CLEATS: No metal cleats.
RUNNERS: Teams may use one pinch runner per inning. Players may only be used as a pinch runner once a contest.
UMPIRES: Games will be umpired by members of the Bears Softball Organization. Their efforts allow the league to remain affordable. On occasion help may be needed.
HOME RUNS: Unlimited Home Runs.
BATTING ORDER: Teams may bat as many players as they want in whatever order they want. All fielding players must be in the lineup. If a player leaves the lineup and another player does not fill the spot, the spot would be an automatic out the first time up. After the first time, the spot will be erased from the batting order.
SLIDING: Sliding is encouraged but not mandatory. However, if you create contact you may be called out at the umpire’s discretion.
STANDINGS: Teams will receive two points for a win and -1 point for a forfeit. Teams will be seeded for playoffs based on points. All teams qualify for the postseason.
